jodå, B23:an lutar en 10 grader åt höger ungerfär-sisådär. Då får man rätt lutning.

Vilken låda sitter i 202, M45?

Hello dear Lapplander/Valp-friends from Sweden!

I am Willi from Munich/Southern Germany and I own 2 pieces of C202-Lapplanders.

One of them is an Icelandic version (1 big side door instead of the 2 small ones; big smoky-grey windows all around, nice interior stuff, dark red and very smooth - strange!).

Please help me now for the matter is this:

A friend of mine (he is a car mechanic) is about to change my damaged B20A into a running B23A (which he has removed from some 200er series Volvo or so).

Recently he phoned to me, that he is afraid, the change could not work, because: Although he is aware to change the B23A into a flat/straight position, just like the original B20A, the end of the carburator will come too high, that it probably won´t fit within the engine cover (between engine and interior car).

What to do, can you advice us?

By the way, in this thread you probably have discussed very important topics concerning my case, but - I m very sorry! - I cannot understand Swedish! Can you just summon up the important statements about the changing-B20A-to-B23A Theme into English (or German) for me?

Thank you very much!

Willi from Germany

Thank you for advicing me to use translate.google.com for translating your above written comments in this matter. But: The Google-Translation into German is hardly to understand, to tell the truth: With this translation I cannot even follow one single theme!

So please, just tell me:

What is the matter concerning the space for the carburetor? My friends says, if he would built in the B23A into my Lapplander C202, then there is not space enoufth for the carburetor anymore, because it is too high.

What to do now with the carburetor? Have we got to fit another part?

Thank you for your help!

Willi from Germany

Ok then I write in english and tell you .

there is one in post 3 that just says that it would probably be easier to use an injektionengine beccause the lack of space but I think there will be more posts on that topic

the one thing the discussion is about is wich clutchcover to use the B20 is standing straight but the b23 is leaning about 10 degrees and how to fit 5sp gearbox. they are also saying that if you want the engine to lean over you can take a clutchcover from a 240 with B21 and change.

I dont know how much room there is beccause I dont own a car yet and with clutchcover I mean the piece betwen engine and gearbox

and if mounted straight you need too change to B20 oilpan.pickup and pressurepipe

and in the 202 the 5sp will fit pretty easily but it is 7-8cm longer

Okay, thank you very much for your "translation"!

By the way: what do you mean with 5sp at a C202?

5-Speed-Gear? The C202 like all Lapplanders (I think) has only 4-Speed-Gear! If someone has 5-Speed-Gear, then it is already tuned up.

Hello Willi

Yes he means 5-Speed-Gear. It is possible to fit in an M45-gearbox even though it's not "bolt on" so to speak. You need to modify the outlet side to make it fit to the 4WD gearbox and you have to deal with the extra length of the M45.

About the carburator: I searched a bit but didn't find very much for you, but it seems that most of the people have eather modified the inletpipe (don't know the right word) or they have used an B23E instead although it seems it also need to be modified to fit in.

One other hint is to also start a thread at www.terrangbil.net. It is an other good swedish site (like this) and there is no problem to write in english there. I'm sure you will get a lot of answers.

m45 is standar in c202 and m45 has same gear hous as m47 and same bolt pattern aganist 5 gear hous as againt fd 51.

don't know so much abut b23 but caburator can be a problem but must easy be solve with placing engin a bit lower and weld a lite on passanger side.

oil span and pickup easy work with tig och gaswelding.

my 202 has m47 and xd3te diesel turbo intercooler and it fits in well.
